A Street Accident
One day, when returning from tuition classes, I became an eye-witness to a terrible street accident that deeply disturbed me. It was near a busy intersection around 5 pm, and the traffic was quite heavy with cars, buses, bikes, and people. Suddenly, I saw a teenage boy rushing across the road away from the zebra crossing. Within seconds, a speeding motorcycle failed to slow down in time, struck the boy hard, and both of them fell violently. The boy suffered from deep injuries on his head and legs and started bleeding severely. The motorcyclist had injuries on his hands and knees too. The accident attracted a huge crowd within moments. Some responsible people immediately called emergency services and offered first aid to control bleeding using handkerchiefs. Soon, an ambulance arrived and rushed them to the hospital for immediate treatment. Police also came quickly, who managed the huge crowd and cleared the jammed vehicles to restore order. This tragic event shocked everyone because both the teenager and the bike rider were at fault – the boy crossed carelessly, while the rider was over-speeding. The accident clearly showed how ignorance of traffic rules and impatience can lead to disastrous consequences. It made me realize that road accidents often occur due to common mistakes like distracted walking, crossing without looking, or dangerous driving habits. After witnessing this incident, I promised myself always to follow road safety rules strictly and encourage friends to do the same. Such experiences are valuable lessons reminding us that life is precious, and safety must come first. Street accidents can be prevented if everyone acts responsibly. This memory remains fresh in my mind, urging me to stay alert on roads and help promote a safer society for all.
