In his boyhood, Hazrat Abdul Quadir Zilani was going to Bagdad for education. On the eve of his departure from home, his mother said to him, “My son, never tell a lie and don’t get frightened in danger.” Bagdad was Jar away from his home. He began his journey in the company of a band of merchants.

The way was infested with robbers. After five days a gang of robbers fell upon the travelers. One of the robbers caught hold of the boy. The gang leader saw it and said, “Let the boy go. He has nothing with him.” At this, the boy said, “No, you are wrong. I have forty gold coins sewn in my sleeves.”

The leader asked him why he told them about his gold coins. The boy said in reply that at the time of his departure his mother forbade him to tell a lie. He could not disobey his mother. Hearing this, a change came into the gang leader. He gave up robbery with all his men. They began to lead a good and honest life. Being inspired by the truthful boy, they became good men. They decided to reform themselves and gradually gave up all their bad habits.

One of them was of natural roses, and the other was of artificial roses. The queen asked the king to identify the real one. As both of the garlands looked quite alike, Solomon thought for some time. Just at that moment, he saw some bees humming outside the window and told his men to open the window.

Then the bees came in and sat on the garland of natural roses. Then the king was able to identify the garland of real roses. The Queen of Sheba was greatly charmed by his wisdom.

So, he felt greedy to eat the piece of meat.

The fox thought for a while of having the piece of meat. He then began to praise the crow. He said, “you look very beautiful today.” He saw that the crow was not responding. Then, he said, “You can sing very sweetly. Could you please sing a song? I’m eager to hear a song from you?”

This time the crow became flattered. So, it began to sing loudly. But no sooner had it opened its lips to sing than the piece of meat fell into the ground from its beak. At once the fox took it and began to eat. After eating the piece of meat, he said, “O friend crow, never be flattered by praising”. The crow became shocked realizing its fault.

শিয়াল কিছুক্ষণ মাংসের টুকরোটি নিয়ে ভাবল। তারপর সে কাকের প্রশংসা করতে লাগল। সে বলল, "আজ তোমাকে খুব সুন্দর দেখাচ্ছে।" সে দেখল যে কাকটি কোনও সাড়া দিচ্ছে না। তারপর, সে বলল, "তুমি খুব মিষ্টি গান গাইতে পারো। তুমি কি দয়া করে একটি গান গাইতে পারো? আমি তোমার কাছ থেকে একটি গান শুনতে আগ্রহী?"

Long, long ago, there lived a cowboy in a certain village. He used to tend sheep in a nearby field beside the forest. The cowboy was a great liar. He enjoyed making fun with people.

He often cried out “Wolf! Wolf!” The kind-hearted villagers heard his cry and rushed to the spot with sticks to save the shepherd boy. But when they came near, they found no wolf, and the cowboy laughed at them.

After a few days, the boy had the same fun. The villagers again ran to the field, but they found no wolf, and the boy laughed at them in the same way. The villagers became very angry and advised the boy not to have that fun in the future.

But one day a wolf came. It started to kill the sheep one by one. The shepherd boy was frightened. He shouted and shouted, “Wolf! Wolf! Help! Help!”. But none came to help him that time.

The villagers heard him but thought that the boy was again making fun of them. The wolf killed a number of his sheep and then killed the shepherd boy. So, we should never make fun by telling lies.

অনেক দিন আগে, এক গ্রামে এক রাখাল থাকত। সে বনের পাশের মাঠে ভেড়া চরাতো। রাখাল ছিল ভীষণ মিথ্যাবাদী। মানুষের সাথে মজা করতে সে খুব পছন্দ করত।

সে প্রায়ই চিৎকার করত "নেকড়ে! নেকড়ে!" দয়ালু গ্রামবাসীরা তার চিৎকার শুনে লাঠি নিয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে যেত রাখাল ছেলেটিকে বাঁচাতে। কিন্তু যখন তারা কাছে এলো, তারা কোনও নেকড়ে খুঁজে পেল না, এবং রাখাল তাদের দেখে হেসে উঠল।

কিন্তু একদিন একটি নেকড়ে এলো। সে একে একে ভেড়াগুলোকে মারতে শুরু করল। রাখাল ছেলেটি ভয় পেয়ে গেল। সে চিৎকার করে বলল, "নেকড়ে! নেকড়ে! সাহায্য! সাহায্য!"। কিন্তু সেই সময় কেউ তাকে সাহায্য করতে আসেনি।

গ্রামবাসীরা তার কথা শুনে ভেবেছিল যে ছেলেটি আবার তাদের সাথে মজা করছে। নেকড়ে তার বেশ কয়েকটি ভেড়া মেরে ফেলেছে এবং তারপর রাখাল ছেলেটিকে মেরে ফেলেছে। তাই, আমাদের কখনই মিথ্যা বলে মজা করা উচিত নয়।

Failure is the pillar of Success Story; Robert Bruce was a famous king of England. His kingdom was invaded by enemies. The king fought. So, he fled away from his kingdom and took shelter in a remote cave. Bruce was always in a gloomy state for his kingdom’s condition. Once he was thinking of his sad lot lying in the cave. Suddenly he noticed a spider trying hard to reach the ceiling of the cave.

The spider failed more than 5 times to attain success. But it did not give up hope. Bruce saw the spider climbing to the ceiling after six unsuccessful attempts. This dauntless spider inspired Robert Bruce to shake off the darkness of despair. Robert again gathered an army of strong men and attacked his enemies. The enemies courted defeat, and Bruce regained his kingdom.

Robert Bruce was the king of Scotland under the rule of an English king. He wanted to make Scotland a free country. He fought many battles but was defeated many a by his enemy. He fled from the battlefield and hid himself in a cave to save his life. He had no more courage to fight another battle.

In the cave, the king saw a spider. The spider was hanging with a  thin thread. It was about to reach its cobweb when it fell to the ground. He tried, again and again, to climb up to reach its web, and every time it failed. But it did not give up its efforts.  At last, it succeeded in reaching a lesson from the spider. He gathered his lost courage and learnt a lesson from the spider. He gathered his army once again. He decided in defeating his enemy.

Once there lived a poor woodcutter. But he was very honest. He earned his livelihood by selling wood in the market. One day while he was cutting wood beside a river, his axe slipped out of his hand abruptly and fell into deep water.

He became very sad as he would not be able to cut wood anymore to earn his living and maintain his family. He sat beside the river and began to cry bitterly. Seeing this, the river goddess took pity on him.

She appeared before the woodcutter, soothed him, and offered him a gold axe. But the honest woodcutter did not feel tempted. He said that the axe was not his. The goddess dived into the river and brought a silver axe.

The woodcutter told her that it, too, was not his axe. Now the goddess again dived into the river and brought an ordinary iron axe with an old wooden handle. At once the woodcutter said that it was his axe.

At this, the goddess became very much pleased with the poor woodcutter’s honesty and devotion to truth. So, she gave the woodcutter all three axes as a token of reward for his honesty.

He sold the silver and gold axes in the market, got a huge amount of money, and became a rich man. He thus began to live a happy life.

সে খুব দুঃখিত হয়ে পড়ে কারণ সে আর কাঠ কেটে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করতে এবং পরিবারকে ভরণপোষণ করতে পারবে না। সে নদীর ধারে বসে কাঁদতে লাগল। এটা দেখে নদী দেবীর করুণা হল।

সে কাঠুরিয়ার সামনে উপস্থিত হয়ে তাকে শান্ত করল এবং তাকে একটি সোনার কুঠার দিল। কিন্তু সৎ কাঠুরিয়া প্রলোভিত হল না। সে বলল যে কুঠারটি তার নয়। দেবী নদীতে ঝাঁপ দিলেন এবং একটি রূপার কুঠার নিয়ে এলেন।

কাঠুরিয়া তাকে বলল যে এটিও তার কুঠার নয়। এবার দেবী আবার নদীতে ঝাঁপ দিলেন এবং একটি পুরানো কাঠের হাতল সহ একটি সাধারণ লোহার কুঠার নিয়ে এলেন। কাঠুরিয়া সাথে সাথে বলল যে এটি তার কুঠার।

এতে দেবী দরিদ্র কাঠুরিয়ার সততা এবং সত্যের প্রতি নিষ্ঠায় অত্যন্ত সন্তুষ্ট হয়েছিলেন। তাই, তিনি কাঠুরিয়াকে তার সততার পুরষ্কার হিসেবে তিনটি কুঠারই দিয়েছিলেন।

সে বাজারে রূপা ও সোনার কুঠার বিক্রি করে প্রচুর অর্থ উপার্জন করে এবং একজন ধনী ব্যক্তি হয়ে ওঠে। এভাবে সে সুখী জীবনযাপন করতে শুরু করে।

When they reached the middle of the forest, suddenly they saw a bear coming towards them. Both of them became frightened. One of the friends knew how to climb up a tree but the other was unable to do it. The first friend quickly climbed up a tree. He did not think about the safety of his friend.

The other friend became very upset. But he did not lose heart. He was intelligent. He knew that a bear did not touch any dead body. So, he made a plan. He lay on the ground just like a dead man. The bear came and smelt his ear and nose. It thought that he was dead. It left the place without doing any harm. Seeing his friend got down from the tree. He thought the bear might tell his friend something important. So, he asked his friend what the bear whispered into his ears.

The first friend wanted to give his friend a good lesson. So, he said to his friend that the bear had whispered to him, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”

একসময় একই গ্রামে দুই বন্ধু থাকত। তারা একে অপরকে খুব ভালবাসত। গ্রামের মানুষ এটিকে আদর্শ হিসেবে নিয়েছিল। একদিন দুই বন্ধু এক ঘন জঙ্গলের মধ্য দিয়ে যাচ্ছিল। যখন তারা বনের মাঝখানে পৌঁছল, হঠাৎ তারা দেখতে পেল একটি ভালুক তাদের দিকে এগিয়ে আসছে। দুজনেই আতঙ্কিত হয়ে পড়ল। বন্ধুদের একজন জানত কিভাবে গাছে উঠতে হয় কিন্তু অন্যজন তা করতে পারত না। প্রথম বন্ধু দ্রুত একটা গাছে উঠে গেল। সে তার বন্ধুর নিরাপত্তার কথা ভাবল না।

অন্য বন্ধুর খুব মন খারাপ হয়ে গেল। তবে তিনি মনোবল হারাননি। তিনি বুদ্ধিমান ছিলেন। তিনি জানতেন ভাল্লুক কোনো মৃতদেহ স্পর্শ করে না। সুতরাং, তিনি একটি পরিকল্পনা করলেন। তিনি মৃত মানুষের মত মাটিতে শুয়ে পড়লেন। ভালুক এসে তার কান ও নাক শুকে দেখল। মনে হয়েছিল সে মারা গেছে। ভাল্লুকটি কোনো ক্ষতি না করেই জায়গা ছেড়ে চলে গেল।

অপর বন্ধুটি শোয়া বন্ধুকে দেখে গাছ থেকে নামল। সে ভেবেছিল ভালুক তার বন্ধুকে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কিছু বলেছে। তাই সে তার বন্ধুকে জিজ্ঞেস করল, ভালুক তার কানে ফিসফিস করে কি বলল। প্রথম বন্ধু তার বন্ধুকে ভালো শিক্ষা দিতে চেয়েছিল। তাই, তিনি তার বন্ধুকে বললেন যে ভাল্লুক তাকে ফিসফিস করে বলেছিল, “বিপদের বন্ধুই প্রকৃত বন্ধু।”

Once upon a time on a sultry day in summer, a crow felt very thirsty. It flew to and fro looking for water. But it could find no water anywhere.

At last, it grew so thirsty that it thought that it would die. It, however, continued its search and found a jar at some distance.

At once the crow flew down to have a drink of water from the jar. But it found a little water at the bottom of the jar. It thrust its beak into the jar. It could by no means reach it with its beak.

But it did not lose heart. It tried to overturn the jar but failed. It was about to fly away when it saw some stones a little way from the jar. At once it hit upon a plan.

It picked up the stones one by one and dropped them into the jar. When he had dropped a large number of stones, the water in the jar rose high enough for him to reach it. Then the crow quenched its thirst drinking water to its heart’s content.

সে পাথরগুলো একের পর এক তুলে পাত্রের মধ্যে ফেলে দিল। যখন সে প্রচুর পাথর ফেলে দিল, তখন কলসির জল এত উঁচুতে উঠে গেল যে সে তা পৌঁছাতে পারল। তারপর কাকটি তার তৃষ্ণা মেটাতে পানি খেয়ে তার তৃষ্ণা মেটালো।

However, instead of taking advantage of this opportunity, Robin decided to uphold his virtues of honesty and responsibility and return the money to its rightful owner.

Despite the fact that Robin's class was about to commence, he chose to prioritize returning the money over his own education. As a result, he took the purse/moneybag to the headmaster of his school and informed him about his discovery. The headmaster, who was thoroughly impressed with Robin's ethical conduct, accompanied him to the local police camp to hand over the money.

The town dwellers talked and talked, but found no way out. At last, they decided to go to the Mayor to seek his help. They came to the Town Hall and said to the Mayor, “Do something about the rats or we will send you packing.” The Mayor was trembling in fear. He called a meeting of his councilors and discussed the problem for hours, but they could not find a solution. They were in despair.

At that moment, a tall, thin stranger entered the Hall. His dress was made of pieces of cloth of different colours. He went up to the council tables and said, “People call me the Pied Piper. If you pay me a thousand guilders, I will rid your town of rats.”

The Mayor and his councilors were surprised at the sight of such a stranger. The Mayor said, “I will pay you a thousand guilders, but after you have removed all the rats from my town.” The Pied Piper agreed. He went out of the council room and started playing on a strange flute.

Hearing the flute, all the rats, big and small, started following the Pied Piper. The Pied Piper was going towards the river playing on the flute. When he reached the bank of the river Weser, all the rats started jumping into the river.
