The Importance of
Reading Newspaper
Introduction: A Newspaper is the means of carrying news of both home and abroad. It is the storehouse of knowledge. It is one of the blessings of modern life. It is our daily companion and a part of our lives. We cannot think of modern life without newspapers.
History: The Newspaper was first published
in China. During the rule of Queen Elizabeth, it was first published in
England. Before the English rule, there was no newspaper in this sub-continent.
The India Gazette was the first printed newspaper in this sub-continent. It was
published in 1774. The first Bengali newspaper, named Samachar Darpan, was
published by the missionaries of Serampore. Now newspapers have made much
progress.
Kinds: Newspapers are of various kinds. They
are dailies, weeklies, fortnightlies, monthlies, and even quarterlies. A daily
newspaper provides us with current news of the day. Others are known as
periodicals and magazines. They contain stories, poems, essays, novels, and
dramas, etc.
Common Dailies in Bangladesh: There are a
number of English and Bengali newspapers in Bangladesh. They are The Daily
Star, The Bangladesh Observer, The Daily Independent, The New Age, The
Financial Express, The Daily Prothom Alo, The Daily Samokal, The Daily
Janakantha, The Daily Jugantor, The Ittefaq, The Daily Destiny, The Jai Jai
Din, The Weekly Evidence, The Saptahik 2000, The Ekhan, and so on.
Usefulness: Newspapers give us both
information and pleasure. It provides us with local news, world news, trade
news, market news, sports news, advertisements, and features. Most newspapers
publish regular literary and educational subject matter. It keeps us in close
contact with the current affairs of the world. It helps the growth of public
opinion and contains views on current topics.
Demerits: Newspaper is not an unmixed
blessing. It sometimes publishes excessive and embarrassing information. It
also publishes false or partial news and views. Sometimes it preaches violence
and incites war. This is surely a misuse of a newspaper.
Conclusion: The Newspaper indeed has some defects. But without newspapers, modern life cannot be imagined.
সংবাদপত্র পড়ার গুরুত্ব
ভূমিকা: একটি সংবাদপত্র দেশ-বিদেশের খবর বহনের মাধ্যম। এটি জ্ঞানের ভাণ্ডার। এটি আধুনিক জীবনের অন্যতম আশীর্বাদ। এটি আমাদের দৈনন্দিন সঙ্গী এবং আমাদের জীবনের একটি অংশ। সংবাদপত্র ছাড়া আমরা আধুনিক জীবন কল্পনাও করতে পারি না।
ইতিহাস: সংবাদপত্রটি প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল চীনে। রানী এলিজাবেথের শাসনামলে এটি প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল ইংল্যান্ডে। ইংরেজ শাসনের আগে এই উপমহাদেশে কোনও সংবাদপত্র ছিল না। ইন্ডিয়া গেজেট ছিল এই উপমহাদেশের প্রথম মুদ্রিত সংবাদপত্র। এটি ১৭৭৪ সালে প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। সমাচার দর্পণ নামে প্রথম বাংলা সংবাদপত্রটি শ্রীরামপুরের মিশনারিদের দ্বারা প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। এখন সংবাদপত্রগুলি অনেক উন্নতি করেছে।
প্রকার: সংবাদপত্র বিভিন্ন ধরণের। এগুলি দৈনিক, সাপ্তাহিক, পাক্ষিক, মাসিক এবং এমনকি ত্রৈমাসিক। একটি দৈনিক সংবাদপত্র আমাদের দিনের বর্তমান খবর সরবরাহ করে। অন্যগুলি সাময়িকী এবং ম্যাগাজিন হিসাবে পরিচিত। এগুলোয় গল্প, কবিতা, প্রবন্ধ, উপন্যাস এবং নাটক ইত্যাদি রয়েছে।
বাংলাদেশের সাধারণ দৈনিক: বাংলাদেশে বেশ কিছু ইংরেজি এবং বাংলা সংবাদপত্র রয়েছে। সেগুলো হলো দ্য ডেইলি স্টার, দ্য বাংলাদেশ অবজারভার, দ্য ডেইলি ইন্ডিপেন্ডেন্ট, দ্য নিউ এজ, দ্য ফিনান্সিয়াল এক্সপ্রেস, দ্য ডেইলি প্রথম আলো, দ্য ডেইলি সমকাল, দ্য ডেইলি জনকন্ঠ, দ্য ডেইলি যুগান্তর, দ্য ইত্তেফাক, দ্য ডেইলি ডেসটিনি, দ্য জয় জয় দিন, দ্য উইকলি এভিডেন্স, দ্য সাপ্তাহিক ২০০০, দ্য এখান ইত্যাদি।
উপযোগিতা: সংবাদপত্র আমাদের তথ্য এবং আনন্দ উভয়ই দেয়। এটি আমাদের স্থানীয় সংবাদ, বিশ্ব সংবাদ, বাণিজ্য সংবাদ, বাজার সংবাদ, খেলাধুলার সংবাদ, বিজ্ঞাপন এবং ফিচার প্রদান করে। বেশিরভাগ সংবাদপত্র নিয়মিত সাহিত্যিক এবং শিক্ষামূলক বিষয়বস্তু প্রকাশ করে। এটি আমাদের বিশ্বের বর্তমান ঘটনাবলীর সাথে ঘনিষ্ঠ যোগাযোগ রাখে। এটি জনমত বৃদ্ধিতে সহায়তা করে এবং বর্তমান বিষয়গুলির উপর মতামত ধারণ করে।
অসুবিধা: সংবাদপত্র একটি অমিশ্র আশীর্বাদ নয়। এটি কখনও কখনও অতিরিক্ত এবং বিব্রতকর তথ্য প্রকাশ করে। এটি মিথ্যা বা আংশিক সংবাদ এবং মতামতও প্রকাশ করে। কখনও কখনও এটি সহিংসতা প্রচার করে এবং যুদ্ধের প্ররোচনা দেয়। এটি অবশ্যই একটি সংবাদপত্রের অপব্যবহার।
উপসংহার: সংবাদপত্রের অবশ্যই কিছু ত্রুটি রয়েছে। কিন্তু সংবাদপত্র ছাড়া আধুনিক জীবন কল্পনা করা যায় না।
